Hilary and Zelda
My Story
I'm taking on the Kindness Challenge to raise funds for Emmaus Norfolk and Waveney, in memory of Tricia, my mum, who was twice taken into care at All Hallows (the building which is now being renovated as part of the Emmaus site) once as a baby and again as a 16 year old.
With thanks the then convent matron - 'Aunty' Chris - and the Sisters who showed mum kindness and love throughout her very difficult child-and-young-adult-hood,
With thanks to mum who taught Pete and I to value kindness above everything, and continued throughout her life to shine glimmers of kindness and joy.
And with thanks to all at Emmaus Norfolk and Waveney - it's such a special place and it's my honour to walk in solidarity to raise funds to support it.
All the money raised will be put to great use, giving people a home, vital support and transforming lives.
I won't be walking the pilgrimage route, but Zelda 🐶 and I will be matching the 450 miles that Emmaus Norfolk and Waveney companions, Chloe, Carlton, Jagger & Peter, and CEO Cecile will be walking over six weeks to raise funds and help more people out of homelessness. Here's more info about that (this fundraising links directly to them) : https://emmaus.org.uk/norfolk-waveney/wok/
Starting on August 26th they will be starting from St David’s in Wales - and I'll be walking solidarity miles slightly closer to home, mainly around Cambridgeshire. - then hopefully joining them for the last leg of the walk as they arrive back at the charity’s home in Ditchingham on October 10th - World Homeless Day.
I believe that everyone deserves a safe place to call home and I will be walking The Kindness Walk in solidarity to get one step closer to making this a reality for people across the country.
You can sponsor my walking challenge by donating to my page.
in memory of Tricia and with hope for the future ♥️
with love
Hilly
